24 Holiday Recipes: Christmas Calendar – Come and Print It!

24 Holiday Recipes: Christmas Countdown Calendar – Come and Print It!

The weather has cooled; the leaves are turning and the days are shorter. At Willamette Valley’s Bed & Breakfast: A’ Tuscan Estate, it is the time of year our kitchen begins to emanate those treasured smells from Recipes of the Holidays. Lots of cinnamon and clove along with apples and nuts.

This Holiday Season we’ve created a Christmas countdown calendar with 18 other inns across the country! If you’re looking to snack, nibble, and nosh your way to Christmas Day, you’ve arrived at the starting line. In fact, prepare to loosen your belts. We’re all about counting blessings, not calories.

This Christmas countdown 2021 showcases the best holiday recipes from bed and breakfasts near and far. Each recipe is actually in the form of a postcard that you can print, (affix to cardstock), stamp, and mail. So, whether you choose to make the holiday recipe for yourself or countdown the days with friends and family – you can share in the experience together; even if you’re far apart.

The recipe postcards are free and slightly oversized to allow space to show each step with whimsy, illustrated artwork and unique lettering. The postcards are available to download as a full eBook here (till Jan 1, 2022)! You may print them all (and make as many copies as you’d like) or pick and choose your favorite recipes. The book includes everything from holiday drinks, desserts, cookies, breakfast foods, and more.

Start on December 1st and print, stamp, mail (and eat!) your way to Christmas Day. There are 24 holiday recipes in total. Pay special attention to 19-Days till Christmas and 20-Days till Christmas – these are our Baked Spiced Oatmeal with Cranberries, Apples and Walnuts and Red Velvet White Chocolate Cake Truffle Recipes!

This Recipe for the Holidays brings me right back to my grandmother’s kitchen in Indiana.  The warmth of the oven and the smells wafting throughout the house are reminiscent of childhood. I can see Grandma in her apron peeling apples grown on the back lot as she prepares this dish for us for breakfast.  “This will keep your bellies full while you build snowmen,” she would profess.

We try to emulate some of those scents as our guests are waking each morning or arriving from a day of wine tasting.  Thinking about it makes my stomach growl!  Let’s get started!

My mom was known for her Red Velvet Layer Cake.  While I’ve never mastered the layer cake, this is my version of her time honored dessert.

Here are some different ways to do this holiday countdown 2021:

  1. Make a recipe each day on your own to eat
  2. Make a recipe each day to gift to a friend
  3. Ask a friend or family member to cook with you in real-time via Zoom, FaceTime, Skype, etc.
  4. Invite some friends for a small socially-responsible holiday potluck and have each friend make a recipe. Maybe mail the recipe as the invite?
  5. Invite your friends to a mini reunion at the inn with the recipe you all loved most!

There’s no specific order – it’s not a secret advent calendar – it’s more of one that’s seasoned with herbs, spices, and lots of tender loving care. So, eat your heart out with this unique Christmas countdown calendar, then mail the love.

As we plan for gathering with family and friends to celebrate, we hope you will choose a stay at A’ Tuscan Estate Bed & Breakfast if your travels bring you to McMinnville or Willamette Valley.
